Eli Chait With the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, Colorado grocery stores are experiencing stock issues and can be very crowded. Meanwhile, restaurants are closing their doors or moving to takeout only and the vendors that serve restaurants are experiencing the pain of significant decline in orders.
This is an incredibly difficult time for everyone in the food industry, and the average food wholesaler in the US is a small business about the size of the average restaurant. They don’t have big safety nets and their businesses are at now risk with the majority of their customers being closed.
For this reason, many wholesalers have begun taking orders directly from consumers and some are even offering home delivery. This can be a great solution to access great products and stock up while supporting businesses that need it. Below is a list of wholesalers that have started to sell direct to consumers and how to order from them. These are the same great wholesalers that have been supplying your favorite restaurants locally.

Mike and Chris Laurita grew up in the specialty food business. Their parents ran a restaurant in Georgetown, Colorado, for nearly a decade in the 1970s before opening a retail food store in Denver in 1979.
